Technical Support - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can the pop screens that occur whenever AVG downloads or installs updates be disabled?

A: Often, users are using real-time applications on their desktops, where operators can't be interfered with. When the AVG pop-up windows appear, the screen loses focus on the current application and the user has to use the mouse to regain keyboard control.

To disable the pop-up notices:
Run the AVG Control Center program by double-clicking the AVG systray icon.
Select the Update Manager component. If the Update Manager does not display in the Control Center, click on the View Menu and check it on the list. You can also click on Extended Mode under the View menu.
Click on the Properties button.
Uncheck the "Display information about update process" option and click OK.
