Technical Support - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does CallTaker32 save or log Caller ID information from a caller to the automated answering system?

Q: Does CallTaker32 save or log Caller ID information from a caller to the automated answering system?
A: Yes. Caller ID and logging is supported by CallTaker32 in the callertaker.ini. It is enabled by default with these configuration lines (1 is enabled).

{CALLS}
LOGGING=1
CALLERID=1
ADDRINGS=0

ADDRINGS must be set to 1, otherwise CallTaker32 answers on the 1st ring, and while caller ID maybe enabled, it will most likely show all zeros since the phone company didn't have a chance to transmit the number before we answered on the first ring (and for that matter ADDRINGS may need to be set to 2 if 1 doesn't do it).
The logs are in a subfolder where CallTaker32.exe is running from. When logging is enabled, you'll find a text file for each day, and it shows literally every single key press and result (it logs the TXT from the subfolder it's moving through the menu). So you can search for the ID or PIN, then see when, and exactly how a caller got to that choice.

Below is an example log:
