Converting Rotations from the DOS ControlReady to ControlReady for Windows - ROTs to RPLs

Q: I went to transfer over my rotations from my DOS machine to my new one. I can't find a ROTS folder in the audio folder.
Would the rotations be somewhere else?

A: Do not rename the ROT files to RPL.

To find where the ROT files would be, while in the DOS Cartready program, from the World Menu, press 1. This takes you to the Notepad. Press F10, then choose Load Configuration File. Towards the top of the list that is loaded will be two lines (beginning with AG and AL) with the same path. This path will be something like g:\wire\audio or g:\wire\audiodat. The ROTS folder is a subfolder of the path shown in these two lines.

Copy all the files from the ROTS folder to the folder where your audio is stored for Wireready32.

To easily convert ROT files to RPL files, Select this folder in the media log. Press F2 to search, and search for ".rot" (without the quotes). This will show you the ROT files. Highlight the first file, and press F9. Then scroll down one to highlight the second file, and press F9. Keep scrolling through the list, pressing F9 one each file.

NOTE: You might periodically receive a message "There is no currently valid cart available in this rotation." When you receive this message, just press Enter (or click the OK button) to clear the message, then continue scrolling and pressing F9.

By doing this, all of the ROT files will have been converted to RPL files. This actually makes a copy of each ROT file, where the copy has the extension RPL. You would no longer need the ROT files at this point, so you can move them to another folder as a backup.
