CoolEdit 2000 has an error that says I need to run SETUP again?

A: We are not sure why Cool Edit does this. You will need to uninstall and reinstall Cool Edit 2000 on that machine.
The installation files for Cool Edit 2000 are located in the \wire\install\cool2000 folder on the drive letter that WireReady32 is running from.

First you need to uninstall Cool Edit
This can be done from the menu under the Windows Start/Programs menu, or using Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel. After you get the message that Cool Edit was successfully uninstalled, you will need to manually delete some files that the uninstall process did not remove.
Do a search for files or folders, and have it search for "cool" on the local drive. This may find files that are not associated with Cool Edit, so look at the filenames and folders carefully before deciding which files to delete. Once you find all the files associated with Cool Edit, and have deleted them, you are ready to reinstall Cool Edit 2000.

Reinstall CoolEdit
First run the CE2Kmain.exe. This will install Cool Edit 2000 as a trial version. It will come up with a window that will allow you to search for updates on the web. Since Syntrillium was sold, you should tell it to not check for updates and tell it to not show this message again. Once it is installed, you should close it and run CE2Kreg.exe. This will allow you to register the program. Use the registration information you were provided to register Cool Edit 2000.
If you have purchased the Studio Plug-In/Multi-Track Mixer, you can run the CE2Kstud.exe. This will install the 4-track mixer. It will give you the opportunity to register it after it is installed. Choose "Already Purchased" and enter the registration information you were provided.
Cool Edit should now be installed and should operate normally.
