Technical Support - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can the "Archive to FileLog" statement be unchecked by default?

A: YES. Upon clicking the Alt+B Web button, the user wishing to web publish a story will record information in a series of 2 to 3 dialog windows. The first window asks where the user wants to publish the story (i.e. what web page do you want it to appear on?).

In the second dialog window, the user enters information about the story such as a the title, a tease, a photo caption, etc. and there is a small checkbox at the bottom of the window that asks the user whether or not to archive (save) the story that is about to be web published. This checkbox can be defaulted to always be checked, or defaulted to never be checked.

For ease of use, the "archive to filelog" checkbox can be configured in the wire\system\system.ini of the drive for your WireReady system. In the system.ini, add a new group named "Web" and also add the following line:

ArchiveToFilelogDefault=Yes or No

Configure the line to "yes" or "no" depending on whether you would like the checkbox to always be checked by default, or never checked by default. The user can always change the status of the checkbox for any given story, but it is easier if your default matches the action that the user will take the majority of the time.
