Overlapping with auto-recorded programs

Q: I want to have my automatically recorded programs overlap with the introduction and closing files, but the Record by Name command does not assign intro/outro times.

A: TALK OVER INTRO feature
To force a recorded show to fade over the next audio cut as it finishes can be done by setting up the audio file that follows it to force the fadce. The next audio cut can control the fade - simply by using TALK OVER INTRO with a non zero time. This forces the show to overlap even if the show's outro is none and 0. While the record by name command itself doesn't let you plug intro and outro settings into the recorded file itself - this is not necessary because audio files which you put before and after the show can achieve the overlap you require.   Thus if you have a bed that needs to overlap at the end of the show - set the bed to have an intro time like 5 seconds and set the intro to talkover. This will start the music bed over the last 5 seconds of the show file that precedes it.

And even in cases where someone doesn't follow a show with a play command - you can cheat. You can setup a silent audio file equal in length to the intro value - i.e. a 5 second silent cut with a 4.9 second intro and a 4.9 second outro would also force the preceding play command (in this case the show) - to overlap down by that many seconds. The first cut moves down to the silent cut early - and the silent cut moves down to whatever is the next line. While one audio card is tied up for those 5 seconds playing silence - that is not heard and the sequencing has been forced to move down early as required, and there is still an audio card available to start the next play command if the next play that follows the non play command still has to begin while the original program is still being heard.

You can fade into recorded programs the same way - by making sure that the audio file which precedes the show has a non-zero outro time and it's outro is set to talkover.
