Nothing happens when one of our on-air personalities tries to play sound files?

Q: When one of one of our on-air personalities tries to play sound files, nothing happens. Why did this suddenly change?

A: Did anyone recently add a MODEM based WAV device to your on-air computer? BEWARE OF MODEM based WAV devices

Modem WAV devices do not work with WireReady. Be careful if you add a telephone modem to a computer - it often adds a wav device to your list of audio devices. This can cause all your other audio card device numbers to shift, and if you don't recalibrate the device selections for your playback screens, you maybe surprised when one of your jocks tries to play, but nothing happens because the screen is trying to talk to your telephone modem instead of your sound card.
