How do we disable automatic updates or change the frequency in which AVG checks for updates?

A: Run the AVG Control Center program by double-clicking the AVG systray icon.
Select the Scheduler component. If the Scheduler does not display in the Control Center, click on the View Menu and check it on the list. You can also click on Extended Mode under the View menu.
Click the "Scheduled Tasks" button on the bottom of AVG Control Center screen or select the same item from the context menu of this component.
Disable 'Update plan in Basic Mode' by highlighting it and clicking the 'Edit Schedule' button. Uncheck the 'Periodically check for Internet updates' option. Click Ok
Now you can create a new update/test plan that gives you more options to be set.
