Technical Support - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Generating a daily playlist printout

A: Since nearly all WireReady customers use a 3rd party music scheduler and import music schedules into our decks for playout, we do not currently provide a way to print music playlists. Music Schedulers provide reporting tools to generate music playlists, WireReady is compatible with all leading music schedulers. A Music Scheduler will provide very good looking reports. If you need a recommendation on a low cost music scheduler give us a call.

Using a music scheduling product is your best way to generate listener playlists. If, however, you do not have a music scheduler, here are some tips:

While the Automation Deck does have a print button, it's a technical printout, not something that listeners would find visually appealing or useful. The (F5) (or print from FILE pull down) will print a playlist from the automation deck. However this print will print every sequence line, not just your songs, so format lines, commercials, everything will print (except skip lines). Moreover, the printout is hard-wired to only show the sequence number, command name, (like PLAY WAV) and the text shown in the parameters column only. If you use multi-column display to separate artist and title and other information in separate columns, those columns will not print. If you have no other means to generate a print out, this is one way to do it. But it won't look very pretty. Version 9 (circa 2009) may offer enhanced print options including support for additional columns of information, CSV (excel-compatible output) and filtering based on category.

Note: If using the Automation deck F5 print button and you're trying to generate a file, you can go to start/settings/printers - add printer- choose FILE for the local port (instead of LPT1) choose GENERIC and TEXT/FILE and you will be able to print to a file.

Other reporting options (related to viewing reports):

After a playlist has run, the confirmation log will provide a time based listing of everything that played (commercials and music) with more description information. However, this isn't available until after the items have played and is more for your traffic department than giving listeners a heads up on whats going to play on the air.

Stream reports (sound Exchange) most stream providers now provide report generation for royalty reporting. We are compatible with many stream providers including Abacast and LIVE365.COM and can send real time now playing information over the net to them so that they can compile and generate after the fact playlist reports for royalty reporting.

For NOW PLAYING information on RDS encoders, or web sites, the system does provide the means to interface with RDS encoders as part of the base system. If you want to generate now playing information on the web site (showing artist, title, and even screen shots) it is possible with our WebReady add-on product. Note: You'll need to make a text file for every single track/artist in your system using our notepad, but once done it's possible for our system to automatically update your web site with the currently playing artist and track 24/7 (web solutions start at a one time setup cost of $495).
