Setup32 blows out the cusdir32.dat file
Q: I used Setup32.exe for the first time today. I received a Windows error about the program not being installed correctly. After this error, when entering MediaLog, or pressing F1 on a line on Automation, the default directory is c:\ and not the usual content directories on w:\ such as w:\music, w:\jingle, etc. I'm not sure what caused this, nor how to recover from the error.
A: Your w:\wire\system\CusDir32.dat file may have been corrupted when the setup32 program was run. Read below for instructions to fix this file and please call or email WireReady support to get a better version of setup32.
First, Setup32 may have created a backup of that file if it was damaged. Check in the w:\wire\install\backup\ folder. If Setup32 created a backup, there would be a folder with the date and time that it backed it up. You should find a System subfolder, and in that a CusDir32.dat. Open that, and if it has your folder list, you can copy it to w:\wire\system\CusDir32.dat and overwrite the one that is there. No need to restart the program, as it will read from that file when you use the Select Folder button.
If there is no w:\wire\install\backup\ folder or you see odd messages when you attempt to change folders (screen1.jpg, screen2.jpg, etc), you'll need to edit your cusdir32.dat directly.
Go to w:\wire\system\ and open CusDir32.dat with Notepad. The format of the file is Alias;drive:\folderpath\
So if you wanted to have the Music and Commercial folders as a Custom Folder:
Music;w:\music\
Spots;w:\spots\
Once you add them in, you save the cusdir32.dat file. Please be sure you have no extra blank lines at the end of the file.
The folders should then be listed when you try to switch folders in MediaLog or from an Automate deck.
